Our beloved Neptune moved out of Pisces on March 30th, completing a cycle it started 165 years ago. And although I am somewhat mourning this creativity factory shift, I’m pretty excited to see what is to come. As Neptune is the planet that represents inspiration, dreams, collective unconscious, illusions, delusions, isolation, subconscious, trauma, divination, themes of good and evil, spirituality, arts, music, film, fashion, and anything that is curated to be perceived through projection (phones / television etc), in this article, I want to break down some of the pop culture and sub culture trends that I had noticed through the history of its transit in Pisces, its home sign. Many a video essay has been written about these trends, and although its like catnip for those who grew up on the internet to evaluate these “aesthetics and -cores” or music and movie trends, I haven’t seen a cross examination with astrology yet, so I’m just going for the slam dunk and let my freak flag fly free at last. Time to lean into the “delulu”.

I’ve heard a little here and there about Neptune and pop culture or the arts with astrologers but I just want to do a somewhat psychopathically deep-ish dive on this topic and our “period art / pop culture trends” and their symbols. There’s a ton to cover and I’m likely not going to hit all of the topics so I’m just just going to hacksaw my little chunk here for you all, starting with the fun stuff in this article, and moving on to the boring(scary/serious) stuff in the next one. So buckle up and prepare to dissociate.

It was kind of like this constant viewing life from the vacuum of post death pre-life 12th house liminal space waiting room for like, 14 years. Or like a really long wrap-up grand finale of all media old and new repackaging old. I hear a lot of people say, things like, “ahh the culture is dead”, “why is everything so boring”, but I think that some of this is due to the dimensionality of Pisces in Neptune. For instance, if you hang out in your back yard, and lift a rock that appears to be doing nothing, you may find a little dimension or paradigm that exists without your first-hand activity. So much can be happening in front of your face but when you’re in it you cant see it for its time period until you walk away from it.

Pisces is ruled by Jupiter and Neptune. Pisces’s expansive nature has more to do with ethereal or cerebral expansion yet, Pisces and 12th house matters are also represented by prisons and asylums. Its the visions one has behind the restrictions of the self or condition. The inspiration or imagination, hope even, that often gets denied to science (Virgo). The delusion stemming from misunderstanding. Sagittarius which squares Pisces, is also ruled by Jupiter but it’s representation is much more physical land trotting and knowledge based. Pisces is much more like exploring the limitlessness of etheric space or visons one has in a padded room. In fact, Pisces and 12th house matters are exactly what Sagittarius and Scorpio like to study, deny at times, and form sciences around. Neptune Pisces was likely uncomfortable at times because it’s not always comfortable to confront a ghost. It’s not always easy to meet angels either. Sometimes they don’t even look like you expected. Dreams are almost always confusing and left to your intuition to decipher. In fact, at the beginning of this transit, many people from my age bracket were doing DMT, “the dream molecule”. Talk of inter dimensional topics span from spiritual to physics conversations throughout this transit- abundantly novice to scientific. Pouring from ourselves into a digital vapor well of stone tape theory proportions (ie the internet), possessed by algorithms, only to create a unanimous “entity” or mirror of ourselves in which we call, AI.

Neptune in Pisces was a historic plunge to the depths of a digital aesthetic in etheric proportions, projected through inventions from when Uranus was in Pisces. With each move of Neptune building on the last, we saw a lot of innovation stem from Neptune in Aquarius, and Uranus in Aries- bringing us to the digital landscape of social media combining instant communication and information to bring more nuance to future styles and creative expression as they all funnel into each other leading to more interdimensional inspiration tunnels on a global scale.

Its funny, because, just as subliminal, illusive and dimensional as Pisces is, much like a vapor, its reflection into society may have been missed at times depending on your algorithm, which is sort of mirror, and very Pisces in itself as a concept. By this I mean, you’ll often hear “Why hasn’t there been a change in the standard or period of dress since the early 2000s? I mean, why are we so boring?” or something. And when I hear this statement, I notice that this seems to be a lack of understanding about how trends worked throughout history and how technology works now in tandem with generation gaps. In fact, these same people use “Well, when you look at the 50s, 60s, 70s, there was a shift in the way that people dressed per decade” however, rationally speaking, there have been evolving technologies and changing of social and societal constructs that have that have altered the way we express ourselves in the terms of period dress throughout time, as well as how we communicate the way these trends were expressed, thus in and of itself, it cannot be examined at the point of its happening. In another instance, not everyone was a hippy in the 60s, and not everyone was some glam disco queen in the 70s. Time and the technology we use today gives an at-glance disproportionate reflection of the record based on who or what movements make the most noise. Even these notions don’t explain how illusively culture has been defining itself through these past 14 years though.

We can follow some of this with astrology, such as the Leo Pluto, Scorpio Neptune transit of the late 50s that gave way for the “baddie idols”, not only in film and music with Elvis, James Dean, Buddy Holly, and Marilyn, but even through birthing Prince.

Or the Pluto Uranus conjunction in Virgo, and Neptune Scorpio opening the psyche up to deconstruct past systems by disrupting the status quo while growing out your hair and embracing human senses in a way that indigenous people did as a “fuck you” to industrialization and war in the late 60s.

Neptune Pisces’s subliminal work has created a vast depth of aesthetic that exists in multiple dimensions and has been ever changing at the most rapid rates we have ever seen underneath the surface, yet, right in front of our faces. That being within the dimensional fractals of the internet and its algorithms. Aside from Pisces’ modern rulership being Neptune, its traditional ruler is Jupiter, and so, much like when Neptune was in Sagittarius from 1970-1984, we saw a crazy expansion of niches and genres of dress, film, visual arts, and music.

NEPTUNE SCORPIO WALKED SO NEPTUNE PISCES COULD RUN

A compatible trine, Scorpio and Pisces understand each others subliminal ways more than most other signs with a bond that cannot only be seen, but most importantly, felt. On the surface, simply the use of the term “vibe” or “energy” came into popularity while Neptune transited Scorpio from 1956-1970, only to be REVIVED to print on demand shirts blown all across the girl boss nation with Neptune Pisces. Growth of counter or sub culture, fighting for human rights, rejecting industrialization, the sexual revolution, movements for nature preservation, boundary pushing and rebellious music genres, fan girl neurosis (Beatlemania), and quick changing trends all parallel with Neptune Pisces. Most importantly, the way we communicate these cultural changes was altered forever with the popularization of television in early the 1960s, with nearly 70% of the population owning a television. By the end of the decade, government defense agency, DARPA, created the very beginning of the internet. Acid, coups, and mind control experiments sitting right in the middle of these two innovations. Now, we have phones, and self hypnosis.

IN THE BEGINNING OF THE END

PLUTO SAGITTARIUS, NEPTUNE AQUARIUS, URANUS ARIES

Before the crude beginnings of the digital scenes’ baby steps began to take their plunge into the Neptune Pisces, we saw myspace, facebook, Tumblr, 4Chan, and various online spaces where users could create their own space that they could use to build out digital identities and communities that reflect their interests and share information. Neptune being in Aquarius and Uranus Aries, combine the idea of the humanity(Aquarius), with technology, though organized systems organizing concepts of the Self (Aries) and Identity, internationally (Pluto Sagittarius).

2010 THE GRAIDIENT SHIFT TO NEPTUNE PISCES

As more people piled into surface platforms like Facebook, there were subcultures being formed on places like Tumblr where users could get more creative with their curations of aesthetics, birthing the concept of “a e s t h e t i c” as we know it today in online culture, leaving no surprise that by the end of this transit, there have been a plethora of alive and well “aesthetics”. Much like Fight Club, you weren’t supposed to talk about Tumblr, and just as emotionally felt and neurotic as Pisces can be, Tumblr also became a place where people could communicate and bond with strangers across the globe with topics ranging from fandoms and aesthetic curation, to eating disorders and self harm( Uranus Aries), it was all there. And although its considered cringe now, there was a wholesome sincerity about Tumblr that has since been worn out through our 14 year digital erosion by way of meme culture, curated fakeness, and spectacle repetition on our psyches.

INSTAGRAM, PINTEREST, EMOJIS, GIFS: A FILTERED PICTURE’S WORTH A THOUSAND WORDS

Using models similar to Tumblr, with an emphasis on art, communication, and creation, combined with self promotion themes of Facebook and Myspace, Instagram became the common/ above ground Tumblr, and eventually took spotlight. Pinterest on the other hand, solely was used for the curation aspect of aesthetic, from food to fashion. Then eventually we ended up with Twitter, now X, which distorts communication(Pisces) with limited caption posts, addictive(Pisces) seemingly instant news qualities used by people from all layers of societal status from “that barista” to the “president”. Next, TikTok.

Emojis became a new extension to language. We used them for expression, we used them for symbols.

Lets not forget Corporate Memphis design. Billowy people every color imaginable to visually STIMULATE THE SHIT OUT OF YOUR CORPORATE EXPERIENCE.

TIKTOK / YOUTUBE: VIDEO KILLED THE _______

I know you noticed it, but have you thought about it? You know, how a lot of YouTubers have these colored ambient lights that they project in the background of their videos, creating an “aura” if you will. Yeah, smoke & mirrors, and etheric vIbeS are definitely Neptune, but Neptune at home in Pisces makes it even more literal.

Anyway, film is a very Neptunian thing, and its no surprise (or is it?) that 2.53 + 1.8 billion people across the world use these platforms monthly as a form of entertainment. Eventually, by the end of the Neptune/Saturn stay in Pisces, all social media, included short video format posts which was eventually preferred, sweeping users (also ironically a name for people who do drugs aka very Pisces) into an addictive algorithmic current.

STREAMING PLATFORMS

Well would you look at that. Its called “streaming”. Another mass water reference for something of Neptune influence. We stream music, movies, television shows. We get to see the new, the old, and the very niche. As we pour media into the digital abyss, we also have sorcery of recall to it lol. You could never leave your house, and still have the world of media influence and cinematic fantasy at your fingertips. Its giving very “Pisces is imagination/hallucinations and prisons” vibes.

MUSIC, BECAUSE NEPTUNE IS WAVES & PROJECTIONS

Neptune is the artist’s favorite artist. The one that’s legacy echo’s through waves of inspiration. You’ll hear them when you hear popular music, but its been modified for sensitive mass produced palates. Its not always comfortable to hear or see the uncanny grit and the debate of whether their inspiration comes from some sort of pain is likely just as complicated. It comes from the 12th house. Its the outsider.

I think that because popular music cannot all be “outsider art”, these themes were expressed in the usual 12 house concepts of drinking, downer drugs, hallucinogenic, self-undoing cycles, abusive relationships, loss, therapy and trauma or mental health.

The following list and interpretation is more or less an observation and light analysis based on what I have seen, heard, felt though this period of time in popular music from 2011-early 2025. These don’t really have anything to do with my preferences and I have included the videos because not only do the videos typically contain these Neptune Pisces elements, but with our increasingly online media usage, music videos are also abundant, so much so that often times people discover new music on platforms like YouTube.

THE SAD GIRLS AND BOYS LOVE NOSTAGIA: LANA DEL RAY, TAYLOR SWIFT, DRAKE, JUICEWRLD, MAC DEMARCO, EYEDRESS

The nostalgia inducing factor of the cursed millennial whoop echoes through the hallways of brains unnurtured by the depths that exist outside of relentless tiktoks and modern radio alfa-rhythms while simultaneously drowning in hipster bars, craft beer, and modern yoga woo. The introduction to this era of modern pop looking a lot like Lana Delray is a smooth transition, acknowledging the underbelly of Tumblr users longing and moody ephemeral fandoms as well as her style pulling influence from the 60s sounds and appearances. Themes of unrequited love, loss, abuse, and “I’ll be better off alone, but I need you” melancholy are all huge Pisces themes. In the case that you’re natal moon, Venus, or Neptune may be a fire sign, you may have felt totally bogged down by modern pop, and this could be why. The 12th house/ Neptune/ Pisces themes include concepts of the self undoing and for some reason, if the music wasn’t dreamy and imaginative, themes of self undoing or good vs evil came up a lot. Lil peep, lil Xan, Juice WRLD all have this theme in common with Lana Del Ray, and Taylor Swift. Even Kanye trying to start a cult is Neptune Pisces. Have all the pop artists spiraled out, or is it us collectively? For me, the uncanniness of pop striking this cord gives me vertigo. The thought that pop music, being “mainstream” (which is also a funny water collective term) made me really concerned with the mental state of our collective.

The following are an assortment of random videos I pulled that are as close to these concepts as we can get. I didnt have to look hard.

Its actually pretty funny because I can probably only list like 3 Taylor Swift songs off the top of my head, but when this came up as the first one when I wanted to share new pop music examples of this depresso fest, I was actually shocked at how this fit in with the Neptune Pisces narrative. She says she feels like she’s in an endless February- literally Pisces spans a portion of February.

Too obvious, Juice Wrld’s Lucid Dreams lyrics, sound, and video bring you to that heavy shadow of the self undoing territory of the 12th house. In two places, he’s between the floor and the room adding to the dimensionality that exists within our subconscious and reality. Kinda reminds me of sleep paralysis if I’m being honest.

Billie Eilish has such a sleepy sound, but if you listen, again, its like the lyrical content I had initially described. A lot of the subject matter pertaining to toxic relationships, and drug abuse. In this music video she drives into an ocean and floats into an abyss with her toxic partner.

In St. Vincent’s “Los Ageless” song she speaks of the plastic deception of the time, and portrays this uncomfortable reality with liminal visuals.

IN THE BEGINNING: NEPTUNE PISCES / URANUS ARIES

Dreamy and imaginative themes absolutely skyrocketed since the start of this transit. While Uranus was still in Aries, the trippy concepts were there, but the lines were still sharp. The first decan of Neptune Pisces was ushered in with Uranus in the first sign of the zodiac. We dream of a digital trip. I noticed that even the psychedelic concepts were still sharp. The use of sawtooth wave forms and high end were still there. Later, when Uranus moves into Taurus while Neptune gains its maturity in Pisces, the sounds get a lot heavier, and even muted.

I remember MGMT’s Time to Pretend, coming into popularity right before Neptune moved into Pisces, and watching everyone melt from emo/scene to indie sleaze. All the while, we ended back up at emo reimagined.

Neon Indian’s Mind Drips was next down the popularity pipeline when it hit the internet in 2011. The early stages of this transit in indie niches sounding and looking a lot like psychedelics. The music videos themselves in the “underground” of YouTube growing in popularity adding to this projection element to Neptune as it increases its prominence in its home sign. In this music video in particular though- not only is this woman appearing to be having a surreal tripping experience, she’s in a bed, and then falling in an endless abyss portal. Bed, sleep, abyss, portal dimensions, trippin, Pisces. You’re welcome.

Looking back at this music video, its truly a rough draft, or an unrefined version of just how far into the dream we have drifted. Another example of its beginnings was the M83 track “Midnight City” that got really popular in 2013. The music video hosting reference to Project Stargate, a common woo-meets-conspiracy obsession, where test subjects were part of US government experiments testing psychic phenomenon.

Tyler the Creator’s “Yonkers” was a early look at mental health and “evil” concepts in songs and videos that ended up getting very popular in this 14 year span. Just looking at how his work evolved with this transit from Yonkers to IFHY just cant even be made up.

Groups like Salem, White Ring, etc were also coming up around this time with darker surreal themes that slowly transformed into trap sounds and midwest or regional gothic aesthetic / visuals. These themes capturing the inherit anxiety that I think a lot of land locked middle America relates to, in a sort of “I grew up on Unsolved Mysteries and every opportunity has been drained from this town and all I have left is to romanticize my unknown existence- a psychological projection that the glamor of Hollywood wants me to believe in like Jesus.”. Anyway, the genre is “witch haus”. Witch haus walked so trap could run.

Again, as mentioned before, while Uranus was still making its way through Aries, we got sharper tones, more vocal effect, and heavy use of synths. Using this Crystal Castles track for reference, not only were they named after a niche video game (Pisces) but the track is called Baptism, Alice Glass’s vocals are practically indecipherable, the use of trance and trailing video editing styles of video-within-video, Alice doing her makeup, Ethan’s make-up mask, and even down to the details that later came up about how the two band mates were in a very abusive relationship. A lot of folks feel like the music echoes a lot of the abuse and after finding out the details of just how bad it was, some even quit listening to them point blank.

LATER: NEPTUNE PISCES / URANUS TAURUS

We’ve finally made it into the uncanny valley and it doesn’t have to be “in your face” to get the point across. Totally smooth, no pixels. In fact, the nuance of a sleepier tone has appeared to me to be the way that we have reached refinement of this final stage of Neptune Pisces. Its in the nuance of sleep that we live the sensory dream of Venus’s higher octave, Neptune. A lot heavier, a lot slower, Uranus Taurus is a lazy innovator relating a lot of this expression to bed rot and earthy weed smoke. Neptune and Venus love each other though so even when its heavy, it makes it all the more physically creative. The fact that Mac Demarco’s sound blew up around this time is funny because he himself is a Taurus Sun and Mercury, and late degree Pisces Venus and Mars.

Haha, also, it wasn’t until after I put these together that I realized that both the Juice Wrld and Eyedress & Mac videos were both DISIMBODIED, which is also very Piscean. If I’m being totally real here, when Uranus moves into Gemini, I wouldn’t be surprised if more songs about cars, transportation, and communication or communication devices come up.

So yeah, Neptune Pisces= dreamy + sleepy + hallucinatory + melancholy + etheric + uncanny.

Tracks like these flipping the tone of a comedic old classic to make it feel like drinking drano and romanticizing toxic relationships.

Or this one where the video is almost entirely soaked in symbolism regardless of how conscious the intent was. Wet shoes (Pisces ruling the feet, water), butterflies, the yearning, the breakdown in the back of the truck, and the screens at the arcade.

This NTsKi video is actually very Uranus Taurus / Neptune Pisces. Its dreamy, etheric, yet modern sensual and slow building heaviness.

“Why is nothing original anymore?”: MOVIE REMAKES, MUSICAL MASH-UPS, AI ART

Another theme that is pretty interesting and what I consider the inception aspect to this Neptune Pisces transit was that we just kept re-thinking and rehashing. This is the part that I know loads people kinda cant stand. And although I share a similar sentiment, looking at this topic through the lens of astrology actually helped me understand that this is one of those post-modernism concepts that relates a lot to how the 12th house and Pisces operates. Its the dimensionality of subconscious meeting conscious. Its like talking to yourself in the mirror. The mirror isn’t you, nor is it an accurate representation of you. Its captures your “essence” like ai. And the more we rehash, the more we lose the meaning and it just becomes images within images like when you place two mirrors facing each other.

Tacky as it is, MGK & Jelly Roll Lonely Road is so loaded, not even just in the fact that its a rewrite of a popular song and interpolation of a bunch of radio songs wrapped into one while band name dropping every 3 seconds in the most boring way like a 4th of July grand finale after receiving devastating news that you only had a couple of months left to live because the abandoned dollar tree by your house in the middle of nowhere was quietly leaking asbestos(totally Pisces), but even in its show of hands with its “brothers keeper” bit flashing its big business illumi-naughty ;) of the music industry power at you while it lulls you to a dark mundane place. I mean, if you want to get really schizo, the whole shot where we, the viewers, are looking up out of the grave while they throw flowers on us, might be a little, you know, on the nose (we are talking about Neptune so I can get as nutty as I want here OKAY? Okay. Maybe its satire, maybe its not. I’ll never tell so ha.).

TAKE ME TO THAT TRANSINDENTAL PLACE: MUSIC FOR OUT OF BODY EXPERIENCE

Here goes a brief list of some genres influencing the time that gained new found popularity or evolved over the past 14 years. The majority of these have “collective memory” or nostalgia attached to them.

Since Pisces is ruled by both Neptune and Jupiter, much like when Neptune transited Sagittarius, we got a bunch of new genres as well as new ways to make music. Although synths & guitar pedals were developed though the 60s, they didn’t really hit the general market and grow in popularity until the 70s. So similarly, as Neptune transited Pisces, we had a similar effect multiplied by 100. We now have an absurd amount of genres and ways to make music.

Along with this transit making music something that many more people engage in, the price of equipment has gone up so much since 2011. For funzies I’m going to use the most extreme case- the Roland Jupiter 8, formerly 4k-6k on online markets around 2011. Today, a Roland Jupiter 8 costs between 20k-40k.

Hypnagogic pop: Genre that started during Neptune Aquarius, popularized during Neptune Pisces. Encompasses the feeling of nostalgia one feels for AM radio recordings from at time you haven’t experienced leaving a dissociative feeling of inspiration reenactment if that’s even a thing. Dream larping evoking collective memories of recent ancestors. Romanticizing analog sounds, and effect warping the delivery. Often psychedelic, but hints of this genre are now all over the place in modern music as it resonates so well with Neptune Pisces’s very literal “collective unconscious” influence.

Noise: Genre that roughly started in the 1910’s which would have been when Neptune was in Cancer. This would make a lot of sense to me because Neptune Cancer is sentimental and while noise challenges the concept of melody and sound arrangement, in ways, it conjures up sentiments of abstract experiences and memories that lyric and melodic music cannot. It poses a place for experimentation while creating soundscapes otherwise difficult to explain or feel yet ultimately familiar even if at times uncomfortable.

Shoegaze: Genre that started at the tail end of Neptune Sagittarius, popularized while Neptune was in Capricorn, and resurged with Neptune in Pisces. Sounds marked by guitars run though various pedals and heavy vocal effect to achieve etheric sounds. The focus is on a feeling rather than an attitude. Lots of droning. Essentially melodic noise. Apparently Pitchfork calls it “music for dreaming”.

Vaporwave: Started while Neptune was in Aquarius, developed and popularized while Neptune transited Pisces. Sounds of early internet technology, malls, elevator music, and other 80s-90s corporate consumer inspiration in combination with synths etc.

Lofi_hiphop_beats_to_study_to™: At some point in the 2010s, after vaporwave took off, these sounds got looped into hiphop beats and posted to youtube in endless videos with looped visuals of psychedelic Simpsons or anime clips for ambient music.

Coldwave: I think the reason this got so big again is because the themes despair and signature distant chorus effects on the vocals made this sound have a distinct dark etheric sound. Before I ended up in the rabbit hole of Neptune transit history, I just saw coldwave as some chilling atmospheric goth music or a darker version of “new wave” but it really does sound haunted in my post Neptune psychosis perspective. Groups like Molchat Doma are like this liminal version of hypnogogic pop for 80s goth reenactment. Soviet wave is pretty interesting in the way that, not only does this sound of longing exist, but its inspiration romanticizes echos of “collective cultural memories” from a time of totalitarianism and isolation.

DJS

As synths, pedals, and various forms of collective memory evoking music cropped up, DJ culture also saw a rise in popularity for this very same reason. Blending extensive knowledge of discographies with timing and effects to create something totally new that almost transcends all moments blurring lines from track to track and timeline to timeline, rhythmically and historically.

FASHION TIMELINE

SUBCULTURE KILLED TRADITION / AESTHETIC KILLED SUBCULTURE

While I don’t inherently think this title is a terrible thing, I am kind of indifferent since I haven’t been closely following along to all the defined micro trends. As history drifts forward, no time or period will ever be exactly the same as the last so visual standard of dress based on inspiration vs necessity will always remain an obtuse amoeba based on vision, skill, and availability of resources. Our ability to communicate our opinions about these vastly changing concepts as we perceive them in an almost instant basis further draws to the emphasis we place on these changes. I mean, if the 40s had YouTube… my god, we would have been fucked long ago my friends.

The concept of fashion is one that is pretty complex given the technological influences today that have evolved our perception of trends but I want to do my best to explain a theory I had here. The two hidden houses of the natal chart are the 8th and the 12th, and I feel like we can attribute these houses to SUBcultures because when we have experienced Neptune’s transits through these signs in this past Neptune cycle, with all of our new Mercurial and Neptunian tools (i.e. television, radio, publications, phones, apps, etc), we see splits in societal vision or empathy that looks like fear vs change, as these signs tap into subconscious explorations, and taboos.

When Neptune was in Scorpio, we had a boom of subcultures come out of deep feelings related to rebellion of societal standards. We also saw the rise of shedding light on or projecting imagery around 8th house matters like sex, rebirth, death, and mystery. Even if you weren’t a biker, teddy, hippy, part of Black Power movements, mod, or rocker, popular music of the time was saturated with displays of “love me or I WILL DIE”. Things took an innovative turn when Pluto and Uranus moved into Virgo. This was the first time in history that period dress made so many changes in a little over the span of a decade and its constantly changed ever since.

As time marched on, this fractal expanded with our new sense of inspiration spiraling into the future.

Lets break that down:

Neptune Scorpio—

subculture based in feelings of societal under-workings, consciousness, breaking from the shackles of oppressive systems of control, intuition, the unknown, sex and birth control.

Neptune Aquarius—

subculture culture goes to the masses with corporations slinging alt wear at local Hot Topic etc. Intro to internet culture, the externalization of subculture in a digital underground. Mall culture’s last breath. Detached and cool, less of a feeling, more of a statement.

Neptune Pisces—

as we amass data and input our online usage to second nature, “subculture” lies beneath algorithmic pulse of self externalization in mirrored vacuum, with fluid movement that reacts to the sudden realization that it is the performer, the muse. Detached from emotion with the mechanism itself we try new versions of self to project into the digital abyss, only to feel more detached. Living in two worlds, the duality of physical and ideological projection. Who are you projecting? Feeding the AI mirror.

THE LAZY ICEBERG FROM MY VANTAGE POINT

Trying to avoid getting myself into some kind of aesthetic hole of incorrect labeling I felt it was safe to just kind of put a shallow visual timeline in this article but explore away here for a deeper dive.

From what I noticed, subniches would incorporate things that offer state of mind more than a symbol of meaning or group of belonging (ie punk/ prep etc). A curation of sentiment from indie sleaze, cottage core, midwest gothic, dream core, coquette, furries, to beige mom liminalists and comfort core affirmation hoodie wearing vsco girls. What started as creative “tumblr girl”, soft grunge, hipster, twee - yadayada aesthetic turned into styles so specific they could have their own perfume description.

In retrospect, the larping as a million subgenres or micro trends kind of also reminds me of possession in a way, like, ghosts living a dissociative life in another body or something. I guess that’s what pretending is. For instance, this reminds me of how an actor or actress reflects a visceral experience to an audience of being another person or character on a stage or in front of a camera (Pisces). While social media became a huge part of many people’s lives, acting did too, whether or not it was intentional or subconscious. I mean, lets be real, being punk in the early 80s wasn’t about how much of punk history you knew, it was about resonating with the ethos, yet at the same time, if you want to dress like a lagoon siren from the quietest mossy forest, I get you.

2020 👀

Fantasy meets cozy Neptune Pisces incubation IN A PANDEMIC (disease=Neptune/Pisces). Okay so, once 2020 rolled around, you got pretty deep into the trip. Your vision is 20/20 in the delulu. The unfortunate moment when the realization of trauma build-up gets so bad that even those hoping not to face the term simply because of its trendy modern over usage gets hit in the face from willingly doomscrolling a “post truth” curation of digital capital funded projection. Pushing it to the limits in hopes of understanding, taking a dark turn to loss of hope. Was it them, or was it the algorithm? The clown and the muse live in the 3rd person, an outer expression of the self and reflection of others’ emotional essence.

FLUIDITY

The choice to be anyone or anything you feel at any moment. I don’t need to explain this one. Androgyny is a chameleon much like Pisces. Neptune, being the huge generational influence that it is, marks the popularization of this concept. The more I think about it, the more it makes sense because hormones are this unseen part of human biology that is somewhat complicated and fickle. The thyroid which regulates hormone production being shaped like a butterfly, the Greek word for butterfly being “psyche”, all pretty Pisces/Neptune if you ask me. This is particularly more relevant to generations with Neptune Uranus conjunction in Capricorn, or Uranus Pisces/Aries Neptune Aquarius. Next stop, Neptune Aries, where we will likely question the fluidity of the self and what constitutes “being”, in conflict with AI (Neptune Aries/Saturn Aries, Pluto Aquarius).

As mentioned, some of these more popular themes aren’t as obvious however, there are some VERY specific things that are happening and can be pointed out in their relation to Neptune Pisces in inspiration and culture of the period under the surface.

LEGALIZE IT?

Neptune & Pisces rule mind and sensory altering substances. Around the beginning of this transit, I was starting college and I remember psychedelics really getting popular, but I figured that was just everyone’s art school experience. In particular, I remember DMT being all the rage which is pretty wild considering its so specifically known as “the dream molecule”- a Pisces theme. People were also taking large doses of Ambien, a sleep medication to trip as well.

As time progressed, not only did this popularization of psychedelics not go away, but it also eventually started to get taken seriously, and used in therapeutics. From Psilocybe Cubensis, to Ketamine.

About a year before Neptune moved into Pisces, wave 3 of the opioid crisis hit, drastically increasing the number of deaths from opioid use.

By around 2016, California legalized marijuana, and other states eventually followed suit. Now its a pretty common occurrence that people a using marijuana and thc/cbd products across the United States for medical and recreational uses.

Modern spiritual community folks and elite Silicon Valley tech gurus wearing ayahuasca retreat experiences as a badge of honor and mirco-dosing for maximum mental productivity while working at Google and Facebook, creating addictions of a different kind for the world at large.

Much like the way that drugs of the legal and illegal kind simulate a state of being, the popularity of synthetic drugs has now reached an all time high. In a way, its almost this inception of a simulated experience if you think about it. The fake drugs simulating the real ones is wild.

A lot like how Neptune in Scorpio went from psychedelics to amphetamines right before Neptune moved into fire sign, Sagittarius, I get the feeling that uppers are going to be the next big thing again with Neptune moving into Aries.

Beer cans (and beverage art in general) have gotten the most intricate.

Although coffee is legal, coffee contains caffeine, which also alters the brain. We have seen the craziest BOOM in coffee culture we’ve ever seen in history at scale during this period. Not only was this a beloved drink but some people added coffee culture to their personality trait.

Turning time into a liminal space of alternatives with memory enhancing visuals really is something unique to this segment of history. Its like, the Museum of Jurassic Technology in Los Angeles but accessed through the internet.

BACKROOMS: HORRORS OF THE 12TH HOUSE

Before this series of Neptune Pisces and Saturn Pisces transits, I was honestly pretty confused on how to explain or identify Pisces and the 12th house. At the time, it seemed too much like the 8th house and I never really knew how to articulate or visualize its representations. It wasn’t until I watched the evolution of liminal spaces go from mall core and abandoned mall videos on YouTube to the high definition game Pools that I realized some of the skin crawling fears that lie within us that are seemingly intangible(Pisces). Pisces and the 12th house themes represent things like, asylums, prisons, abyss’, primal & ancestral fears, dimensions of the unknown, and supernatural. Unlike the way that the 8th house chooses to describe psychological functions, or uses occult knowledge to understand the supernatural, death, or rebirth, the 12th house IS the supernatural vapor, intangible and unknown. The waiting room or retrospect of the post death experience. As it turned out, I knew what I did not know.

In the case of these liminal spaces, the fears being highlighted are typically that of the unknown. This can be empty office rooms that seem to go on forever. It can be deep water, or slides that swirl into abyss. But something I find even more interesting is how a lot of these spaces look like 90s play places or malls. I think this says a lot about millennials and early gen z and their connection, or disconnection with their inner child. The fear of not having control or vulnerability, and even fears related to instable structures of the past vs digital spheres, as well as industrialization and consumerism as a traditional location that is dying (digitizing), and the haunting feeling of instability in that notion. The fluorescent lights going against our nature. I wonder how this transit or concept would have been imagined by past generations.

BALLET SHOES AND FOOT BONDAGE: NEPTUNE & SATURN PISCES TREND

Along with Neptune in Pisces, we have had Saturn in Pisces for the last 2 and a half years as well, completing a Saturn cycle of 30 years. Pisces, a sign ruling the feet. Shoes, garments for the feet, often styled. Style, relating to Neptune. But alas, Saturn in Pisces equals structure to the arts, albeit, at times even abusive. Dance is an art that almost perfectly intertwines with music as a physical reflection in the body being a medium translating the influence of wave forms through the human senses, and all the while, it is the feet that propel the dancer. Ballerinas translate this grace with much effort that only years of muscle memory can fully bolster. To look effortless, with much effort is almost perfectly the duality of the representation of the two fish symbolism of Pisces. Sometimes I wonder if our collective unconscious is aware of our hidden bondage to the systems that connect us.

“I SEE YOU ┬┴┬┴┤(･_├┬┴┬┴ ” SAYS NEPTUNE PISCES TO NEPTUNE ARIES

(a small confession: I started writing this in January but it took so much longer than anticipated and have already started the Aries Neptune Part 1 article)

As I started studying the Neptune and cultural arts and appearances phenomena, I noticed that there seems to be a bit of a one or 2 year gradient period where some of the insight or inspiration starts showing from Neptune in one sign to the next. For example, prior to rock and roll prog rock mega bands with philosophical lyrics that would grow to glamorous proportions in the Neptune Sagittarius era we saw baby Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, and Black Sabbath playing with the concepts of their sounds toward the end of the 60s which would eventually blow up to crazy proportions through Neptune Sagittarius. Another example of this period’s foreshadow is the formation of cults from the late 60’s, and their growing popularity as well as other 9th house / Sagittarius themes into 1970-1984. More recently, this phenomena looks like Tumblr’s birth happening a year before Neptune moved from Aquarius into Pisces, using the internet(vaporous intangible Neptunian viewport), completely transforming the concept of tradition and subcultures and replacing it with aesthetics.

SO WTH ARE YOU SAYING SASCHA?

Look I’m sayin, for the past 3 years, I’ve notice this nod to medieval, which happened at the end of the 60s, and into the early 70s. And yeah, for a little while there, it was happening in the 90s, but it was more or less a blip in the way its portrayed today. We aren’t talking light and whimsy Sabrina the teenage witch bullshhkt. We’re talkin armor. Neptune Pisces is already calling its shots for the Neptune Aries warrior and we aren’t even there yet. Its almost ironic how funny it is that we are gearing up for war without even knowing its relevance from an astrological standpoint (not even considering Uranus moving into Gemini— which is another article all together). Not only is this a Neptune Aries inspiration, but it is very reminiscent of Joan of Arc. Most of these figures are female depictions of a warrior, and Joan of Arc was a religious/ spiritual warrior at that, which fits into this Neptune theme. Other Mars themes I’ve noticed are subtle transition from ballet shoes, to boxing shoes, individual fighter, military suits or overly broad shoulders, wrestling, shooting, fencing (all white + head gear).

Notice the “I’s” and “my’s” and the conveying of ecstasy through adrenaline. Skateboarding a one player game. Yeah, that’s Mars in Aries. Red hair.

I don’t think the sports themes are going to go away anytime soon either so long as Pluto is in Aquarius and Neptune is in Aries. Another cliché (but look, I’m not above it) is red hair and lipstick, much like the blue of early Neptune Pisces. Expect hats, head gear of some sort, short hair styles, spikes (mars rules sharp objects), big earrings, red or hot pink lipsticks, war wear, glasses, short skirts, sex and violence television vibes, spicy, fun and spontaneous, maybe animal prints, bold and assertive, and sort of like how we saw the popularization of ear stretching and common-place facial piercings with Uranus Aries, Im sure to some extent, this sort of facial modification will be back since Mars rules sharp objects and Aries is the head. There may be some embrace of minimal with pops of a singular interesting statement piece, while some will likely take on some kind of 70s early 80s glam / punk / metal and inspired looks (because of it’s compatibility with Neptune Sagittarius) while Uranus is still in Taurus.

Anther fun thing to note, is the influx of chrome, not only being used in these modern warrior aesthetics, but also in interior design. Its a lot like 60s concepts of Space Age design, reimagined. The representation of chrome, can be related to Pluto Aquarius(future visionary), Neptune Pisces(illusive appearance), and Uranus Taurus(physical conductor). This reflective material that can be heated into a liquid and molded to a solid, but also a conductor with many useful attributes.

It will be interesting to see how this plays out when Uranus moves into Gemini. My guess is that debate will be more fun than ever, making skills and what you know, cooler than the things you wear or your selfies, and people stripping back their styles to something somewhat stock since the stock character is the first (Aries) that you get then you start a video game. Kind of like skin, being your suit when you’re born (Aries). I think for a while, we might be pruney from chillin in the Pisces jacuzzi for so long. The weird feeling in our fingers will be ready for a pallet cleanse. We have this whole new day dawning in the arts and creativity. Just kind of depends on what projections you were consuming in utero.

This Magdalena Bay song and music video are so insanely the count-down to Neptune Aries bahaha. Its not, but if you listen to it in that context, it will look like it with all the symbolism. And like, her costume looks like the embodiment of Neptune itself. The scissors to the head, mars cuts.

Tiktok user doggface2086’s video using Dreams by Fleetwood Mac received 2.3 million views in 7 hours. The virality of this video pushed caught a lot of folks of past generations off guard when it pushed Dreams to the Billboard Top 100 charts in 2020. I hate to try to deconstruct (haha jk I love it) this phenomena, but if you take one moment to just listen to the lyrics, you will hear every last bit of it and all of its Neptunian relevance. You will drink it up like Oceanspray™ from the depths of the digital unconscious cleansing your precious bladder. Mundane? Maybe. Parasocial bonding? Could be. Idealizing freedom and authenticity with mental escapism through a curated lens that confines us while we mourn in a virtual cloud of nostalgia for a time some of us never experienced? Who knows. Generally speaking, I like to “keep my visions to myself”. The strange duality of Neptune Pisces only leaves questions. In native American cultures, feathers represent ties to the spiritual world. doggface2086 has two tattooed on his head, like the two fish of Pisces. Obviously a coincidence, don’t get it twisted.

And well, remember ^these? If you’re into graphic design, you might ask yourself, where did that window with the stairs come from and why was everyone depicting them mid 2010s… lol where do they lead to?

In ancient architectural cosmology with origins in Zhou Bi Suan Jing (2nd century BCE), but also repeated through Mesopotamia, Greece, as well as Mesoamerican civilizations, “heaven is round and earth is square” was a belief based in astronomical and mathematical philosophy. Mars in Cancer is known traditionally to be a weak Mars, but I noticed through reading some Reddit thread this week that a lot of people didn't really understand this placement. And perhaps when an individual with this placement reads or hears this, they then get sucked into a whirlwind of - “wait - I’m weak?” thinking. In response it sort of spawned this philosophical rant.

Now, I’m probably going to catch a lot of slack for this, because in a way its a little like common core for astrology, but the way I see it, is like each sign though Mars is sort of like Naruto, or Magic the Gathering, or even DND. For instance, in Magic the Gathering, there are creature cards that have very little attack, but they can bring other cards back from the grave. There are some cards that have little attack, but affect all of the cards in play by giving them more attack. These are powerful creatures, yet, at a glance they seem insignificant.

In particular, with regard to Mars Cancer, this reminds me of this scene from Naruto I saw once.

Look, I'm no Naruto expert, and the only reason I know about this scene was from this time that I was watching it with my son so I apologize if I butcher this explanation. Shikamaru, is fighting Temari in a stadium. Shikamaru fights his opponent using shadow jitsu. He comes off as lazy and uninterested, yet, doesn't want to “look weak by getting beat by a girl” (which kind of reminds me of this whole Cancer men over compensation concept that can play out sometimes). Now, shadow jitsu is super powerful, but very strategic. Once the opponent is in the shadow, its called shadow possession. This reminds me a lot of the the lunar phases/cycles and the nodes because not only is he using the the shadow cast by the time of day, but the arena is shaped in a circle, which casts like the shadow of the moon. It also reminds me of the 4th house, and how a lot of our shadow and IC foundations can be read from home/mom/moon elements. This has enormous mysterious and undefined power, and shapes people in ways that can sometimes take a lifetime to unfold. Just like Shikamaru, aggression in the usual Aries directedness, or normal expression of it, does not serve him, but the power that he does have requires planning. The look on Temari’s face when she realizes she fell into Shikamaru’s trap is reminiscent of the look a 5 year old makes when a mom tricks her into eating vegetables by making a carrot cake haha.

Obviously, there’s also Sailor moon. I’m saving her for something else though. And I’m sure there are people going “What about the Momma Bear” type- another obvious one but it was a personal choice to look at a different angle.

CYCLICAL IMPACT:

KNOW YOUR MOON. Knowing your moon with Mars in Cancer natal will change everything about your power. With that in mind, it now brings me to my second example. Cancer, a sign representing home, mother, emotions, and the fertility cycle, has a very specific way of directing action. If you don’t know the cycle, you’ll always be out of whack and wondering why things aren’t going the way you want them to go. This is reminiscent of “going with the flow”. With my natal moon, pluto, and venus in the 6th house, I feel obliged to share my story about it.

So, a few years ago, I decided to take on weight training. After lots of frustration about water retention, lack of sustained energy, and not really knowing if it was my diet or the types of exercises I was engaging in were the culprits, I stumbled across this video about work out strategies based on menstruation. The concept is based on the types of hormones that are being made in your body at the time:

Menstrual Phase: mat yoga, light cardio, rest (follicle-stimulating hormone)

Follicular Phase: steady state cardio and weights (estrogen)

Ovulatory Phase: weight training, hiit, crossfit (testosterone)

Luteal Phase: steady state cardio and weights (progesterone)

This changed everything for me, and helped me understand myself a hell of a lot more. I realized that I could be so much more effective if I had a strategy that worked with the way my bodily matrix worked to create lasting results in my personal health and fitness goals. And to think, that whole time, I thought that I had to attune myself to something I thought was some sort of standard way.

And now, to take it in another direction. Does society fully underestimate the usefulness of mothers? Is it that the corporate consumer society demands we produce more people, to consume more, while we work for the betterment of their institutions? Or is it that we should procreate less so that we have more time to work to spend money on over priced burgers, faulty selfcare goop, and nostalgia products the mirror machine tells us is healing (coddling) our inner child? We fight for our legitimacy by taking on roles created by man to sustain mans workforce because its a weak look otherwise- and for anyone deciding to become a mother, you might want to check your IQ, says the institution. The beautiful female CEO nursing the company by her breast, drives the Telsa with a battery made by slave children. If the emotional stability of the individual starts with early development, perhaps a society where the majority of the mothers did not have time to spend with their children create stunted and traumatized civilians in some regard? Or maybe it’s the institution that swaddles you into thinking your parents are the culprits for never feeding your ego? Creating algorithmic bonds so strong and “seen”. Could our fascination with bonding at a distance though means of the internet have anything to do with being homesick?

Or maybe, for the Pluto Sagittarius and Pluto Capricorn generation, its something more. Maybe these mothers are becoming so narcissistic that even when they are with you they are way from you, fully engulfed in a digital matrix that you nearly have to nurse yourself with an algorithm? Alone together. As the shadow gets bigger between you and your ability to comfort yourself and others, maybe tech is your new momma. The narcissistic cycle. Its a good thing that AI is programmed to say all of the right things without having emotional charge, because its warmth of words and ability to listen may make it nearly human. Is it the hand of the toxic mother that nurtures the future of the toxic masculine?

The lack of emotional support, understanding, forgiveness, gentleness, thoughtfulness, and care that institutions can bring reek of Social Emotional Learning workshops and stoop to the level of the paychecks that encourage performance vs the intertwining tenderness and sacrifice of unconditional love. Especially that unconditional love that we see in the movies and curated social profiles. You know, families with perfect portrait archetypes that we compare ourselves to? The kind that smash what you thought was an okay family life into some kind of million pieces to fracture your perception through self hypnosis programing as if what you were viewing was some sort of roadmap to reality. The feminine toxicity does not leave visible marks.

At the end of the day, your perception is only what you make of it. Maybe society is a mirror? Regardless of what the “real” problem is, as its really hard to pin-point, it all seems to come up when Mars spends an unusually long period of time in Cancer right after opposing Pluto in Capricorn for the very last time since 2008. Humanity can now reflect- rather, a pause (mars retrograde), on how the system (Capricorn) might actually have affect on the foundation (Cancer/ 4th house) of subconscious (Pluto) of humanity (Aquarius).

The United States

At the beginning of this transit, with Mars in Cancer in September, we saw the loss of many homes due to water catastrophes on the east coast, and just recently with Mars back in Cancer, we experienced the loss of even more homes due to fire catastrophes, and deportation. Its devastating, but whole communities are pooling together to get aide to people in need, which is one of those things that is really beautiful. No one really knows what’s going on as Pisces is still calling all the shots in Saturn and Neptune. In regular USA fashion, we sit awake with the blue-light wool over our eyes. If only we could use our feeling, and convert it into knowing. “Maybe its time to stop getting gaslit by Virgo (US 9th house)”, says the North Node in Pisces (US 4th house).

This has also made its way into astrology circles to look like nationalism, or defending the home front, which I can also see. I’m not going to take this into politics, but we JUST had a returning president sworn back into office, and considering The United States is a Cancer Sun, it makes sense that we are returning to a previous leader (Mars retrograde when sworn in, and Mercury retrograde while voted in).

The LUNATIC

Look guys, so its not wrong. Sommmmetimmes, Cancer Mars takes things WAY too seriously and looks like dudes who cant take jokes. An inferiority complex so big no amount of muscle can stop the soft insides of this damaged baby from ripping you a new one for looking at them the wrong way. It can be like a war general who only makes decisions based on his feelings. This is because Cancer is ruled by the moon and the moon switches signs every 48 hours. Trying to appease a leader who is emotionally unpredictable is damaging to say the least. If Mars is our direction, or force, then we need a consistent goal or target, to sustain force. Emotionally distracted. Again, this is where knowing its a cycle, can help in creating the power Mars needs to make effective actions (says a Capricorn sun).

Scenario One:

This one is the most common I think. You have a new goal for yourself, say, its working on a passion project in your spare time. But, because you simply “don’t feel like it”, often times, we just don’t follow through. Days go by, weeks even, and you’re waiting to feel inspired, but little do you realize, that part of the reason you’re not reaching the goal, is because you’re coating yourself in a protective layer of comfort. Or maybe, you simply have poor internal self-talk. “What if it fails?”, the voice says. Whats worse, is when you tell people about the actions you’d like to take towards the passion project, and they neh-say it, or ask you how its going when you’ve been passively avoiding it. Oh boy, time to get really defensive.

The power(mars) to create (Cancer). The drive (mars) to create (Cancer). Emotion (Cancer) evoking inspirers (Mars)— I mean, just look at it:

Maybe this image says it all. Our artist of subconscious illusion thrill has passed beyond the curtain. Morphing the house of the dead (8th house) with that of the subconscious inspiration (Cancer Mars), David Lynch had an almost exact transit conjunction with this natal Mars Cancer at the time of his death announcement. And you know, it says a lot about the state of his hometown (Cancer) at the time of his death (8th house) with the LA fires, as well as his smoking (Cancer and 4th house typically talk about themes of what we put in our mouths). His natal moon being in the sign of Virgo denotes a sort of consciousness of his bodily habits, as well as having influence in his very specific way of curating his vision. Pulling inspiration from hidden themes (8th house) and presenting them to the world with his moon in the 10th house. In true Neptune in the 11th opposition Part of Fortune in the 5th house fashion, an intuitive take on the surreal through creation. Libra Neptune and Jupiter in the 11th leaving behind a broken hearted cult following.

Final thoughts

Although, the light off* the moon may skew our judgement as the reflection of the sun casts its light untouched by earth’s shadow distorting what we think we see, its pulling effect on the water molecules down here on earth dance in syncopation night after night. Knowing this cycle is half the battle. What you consciously choose to do with it is up to you. Most of the time, your siblings have a different natal moon.

GROUNDWORK MONTAGE

Since 2008, Pluto in Capricorn marked themes of transformation in the world of business, career, institutions, military, government, and tradition. Here we saw the housing collapse of 2008, covid and lockdowns, wealthy businessmen paying their way into organizations like the WEF, plans of one world government, war, the function of Jeffery Epstein and all the powerful people he shook hands with, mass digital sex work, digital currency explosion, as well as changes in school regulations, boom of home schooling, ideological ideals forced on universities that limit conversation, social control and micro policing, and family vs society power plays. In a nutshell, Pluto Capricorn looks like hidden power themes, and their slow restructuring, while exposing past systems.

Pluto forces change, where systems no longer can sustain. We are then shown all of the cracks in the foundation that we have been standing on. Its not that they didn’t serve us to begin with, its just that Pluto spends its time subtly, behind closed doors, and subconsciously changing everything from sign to sign for as long as we have been on Earth. Asphalt always ages with the environment over time. Change is the only constant. To further understand why these changes have had to come, we need to reflect back on the environment that stimulated some of the more specific shifts in the foundation.

Is there an evolutionary process that comes with these changes we see physically taking place in the structures and technology we interact with through these generations? Much like design, the use of negative space, may actually define the over arching idea left for interpretation. This philosophy may look different from person to person, however, I am not under the impression that the new systems we create to cope with life as consumers is what physically enhances our potential as humans, rather, I believe the observation of these systems, in their modalities of polarization and its encroachment on our individual privacy and rights can help create a sense of what it truly is that we need, and how to become closer to it.

BORN INTO BRAINWASHING

On the topic of long generational changes, typically this goes without explanation of a larger lived experience. On a day-to-day basis, we see people from varied generational span of experience. Without a proper understanding of history, we could never grasp how the present day exists as it is contextually, or why each generation reacts differently, and this could also stem fear or stress in the concept of change as it relates to humanity. And usually it does. That phrase you hear from everyone old enough to have experienced a few outer planetary shifts, “it was just a different time”. A closer look at the astrology through major generational transitions can add more context to the gravity of present-day.

To me, the most fascinating part of all of this Pluto Capricorn business is the way that each generation has been handling it. From my own perspective, as a Capricorn stellium, this transit has been paramount for my own development, as well as my observations on a chunk of late Millennials and early Gen Z.

A GENERATION OF HARD-KNOCKS:

THE OUTER PLANETS AND CAPRICORN

Many late 20-somethings, and early to mid 30-something millennial and gen z’s (me included) grew up on television. Many of us came from spilt homes (thanks to the Pluto Sagittarius generation in combination with North Node Capricorn Conjunct Neptune & Uranus), and the flickering lights of entertainment made for an easy escape. I remember days in the summer, where my sister and I would watch tv for hours while my mom was at work. We weren’t allowed to leave the house no thanks to Satanic Panic of years prior. Family life and the lack of autonomy that I had was so uncomfortable that it made television a cozy resort. I went from cartoons, to tween shows, and eventually MTV. I experienced hedonism without having to leave my house, and projected it into my future real life experiences as a teen. I saw some planes hit the World Trade Center buildings in real time on Good Morning America while my mom was getting ready for work. I grew into Myspace, learning to code so I could have the 𝒸𝑜𝑜𝓁𝑒𝓈𝓉 𝓅𝓇𝑜𝒻𝒾𝓁𝑒, then transitioning to Facebook, Instagram. Many kids I knew played video games (and still do) but I wasn’t allowed to. My mom thought they were addictive, and compared to the basic cable we had, I’m going to say she was right.

Another part of this experience was mall life. Products products products. Looking cool at the mall. That’s life right? C'est la vie. When you were done looking at the box in your house, you could go walk around the box with your friends and buy the junk you saw in commercials. Not to mention the convenience of being a walking advertisement for your hard-working parents. Vapor wave really captured the essense of this uncomfortable Stockholm syndrome.

An even funnier addition to the early life of the Capricorn stellium experience, was the explosion of pharmaceutical drugs. Neptune and Uranus in Capricorn was paramount for capitalizing on drugs to treat the human condition, to support the single parents, who support the kids, that need the products. We saw childhood as ADHD (Ritalin, Prozac, Adderall), adolescents as depression (Zoloft, Prozac, Paxil), and teen angst as bipolar (Lithium, Loxitane, Abilify). Products products products. Being a child was not simply being a child, and every busy working parent was so far removed from the habits of the children based on the amount of time spent away from them day-in and day-out, that anything to help mentally stabilize their kids so they can calmly watch the season finale of CSI, Unsolved Mysteries, or Law and Order at the end of the day was a win. Doctors know best.

Some good news, and some bad news. Unlike our parents who thought the cool factor of life died after 29, we will look to our 30s with inspiration and invention (as Capricorn placements usually take about 30 years to mature), however, there is a lot of change coming, and we may or may not have packed up the factory for our business, shipped off all the parts simply because they were paying us to do it, only to find out we don’t have a job anymore simply from helping to design, construct, and/or pour data into the information box. And that, is what the end of Pluto Capricorn looks like to me. We have busted ass, built the serial businesses, designed the shit out of some start-ups, joined mlm cults for work-life balance, learned to code —or not, maybe begrudgingly busted ass working on some service jobs and felt a huge distaste for money and blamed capitalism while bitching about it from our iPhones— and NOW, we have to look at the AI doing all of it for us, and smile, and say, okay, while simultaneously accepting that AI wants to imitate the Akashic records, while telling you not believe such things.

Work and the way we structure it has changed so much that even our parents cant perceive what it is we do. But there might be an even bigger elephant in the room. Where did all of the physical factories go? And since when did we keep slave quarters over-seas? How is it we can sustain making money as a influencers wearing clothes and using phones made with slave labor? The Pluto Aquarius chapter might have answers.

AGE OF PISCES — PLAY DEAD

In addition to Pluto Capricorn making it’s final goodbye, we have Saturn (Capricorn’s ruler) in Pisces. This, in my opinion, is ultimately the most death and rebirth as it gets in connection with the end of the the age of Pisces/ beginning Aquarius, where the illusion of institutions, consumerism and value structures get placed in an uncanny valley much like seeing a family member in a casket. Its them, but it’s not as you remembered. Its shocking but you knew it was coming. The illusion of the Age of Pisces has a final request and it asks you if you believe in money even if you can’t you can’t see it. In God you trust right? Or Science?

Through realizing the transmutation of the Age of Pisces, I can now see how we may be setting ourselves up for materializing the post World War II illusion of space age design in digital materialism proportions, instead of realizing the real mysticism within the life we naturally live- or at the very least, the realization of how sacred autonomy is. Which came first, the egg or the packaging?

ONCE UPON A TIME POST WWII AND A WHOLE LOT OF PLASTIC TUPPERWARE AGO — the structure of an illusion

Due to recent light on the subject as it pertains to many individual’s understanding of this concentrated effort of polarity through media and it’s persuasion, many people are getting themselves acquainted with Edward Bernays, (his natal chart for the freaks— I̶͕͠ ̶͔̲̲̙̘̐́̍̂̀̏̐͊͋̓ͅş̴͚̥̳͖͓͇͗̒̈̌͊̿́̀̕͝ȩ̷̢͙̩͎͖̳̎̈́̈́͊̽ẽ̶̢̧̙̟̬̦̭͓̂͠ ̶͉̘̪̖̘̪̾̒̒̀͆͑͝͠y̷̙̟̙̠̝͙̻͑̐̈́̉̒́̏͝͝ǒ̷̰̝̝̝̥͇̈́û̷̧̝͎̝̼̜̍̓͝). Nephew of Sigmund Freud and carrying the proverbial torch of family legacy, its no surprise that his vision for psychology and communication would be so pivotal for generations to come. With his Sun conjunct Neptune 7° Gemini, and Pluto 8° Gemini, squaring his Jupiter 8° Pisces, trine the Sun at 29° Scorpio, he was, alas a poetic genius for proper persuasion on the masses (Mercury & Venus Sagittarius). Admittedly, I have not read his books yet but they’re on my to-do list and I’m debating what order I should read them in because although I’m sure there’s value in reading them all, I may end up just reading Propoganda and Eningeering Consent. Funnily enough, he’s also the great uncle of Netflix CEO, Marc Randolph.

Bernays aside, I am currently reading a book recommended to me from the most prophetic person I know, on the topic of marketing and the onset of its impact via television. In Four Arguments for the Elimination of Television, by Jerry Mander, written in 1978, Mr. Mander explains his experience as a marketing professional and the conflict that ensued as he worked for large businesses with huge budgets, while balancing his side business, working on campaigns for human rights activists. His argument heeds warning to television technology and its one-sided, culturally unifying, human nature dimming, sensory depriving methods of mind control.

In his book, he recalls being a child, and overhearing adults talk about what they would do for work after WWII. The need for an offsetting factor to stimulate the economy after the decline of military spending ensued. Jerry writes,

He then goes on to explain television’s roll in the manufacturing of needs and wants projected onto the masses by those who can afford it.

Since then it seems as though we took the unification model of the television hypnosis pendulum, and as it swung into the future, it divided into multitudes of internet micro celebrity stardom pendulum fractals where the over specificity of each and every branching niche can be analyzed, marketed, and now used for blackmail where applicable. We’ve since moved the majority of production away from the United States, with our most notable financial accomplishments being in large tech companies that soak up our input that we so willingly give away due to the structural changes in our entertainment and communication. We grasp the illusion of control by our phones as we dim our lights and pay bills with apps.

This, among a few other outer planetary transits, marks the beginning of a grand finale of the change of hands on our descent into the Aquarian age. As much as we like to speculate when the Aquarian Age starts and with all due respect to real astrologers out there, I view this transition as a sort of gradient because I’m antiquated and think of things pictorially. Business power structures (Capricorn) have turned to technology (Aquarius), to harness some of the more polar negative tendencies from the Age of Pisces (illusion, addiction, fear of abandonment, and victimhood) to centralize power with technology while treating the symptoms of being human with the guise of progress. And in order to move the flies into the trap, we must merge with tech to keep the wool over our eyes and power the machine. Enter the mirror. It is no longer fun and games to sell products that imitate nature, back to the human. Humans and human function must be the product. The life of the subscription business model.
